Defining Nexusknits in 2026

I just finished the first quarter of 2026 with my business and as I reflect on that, I am reflecting on what I am most interested in making for my business. Nexusknits to me has always been about building connections with a handmade item for family and home. Though as I think about what items best say that and have lately brought connections at least online, it’s been my home goods items.

I still enjoy making things like hats and ear warmers and little gift items like earrings and stitch markers for knitters and crocheters, I’ve just found that the house accessories seem to connect right now more so. And that’s fine. I love making them and will continue to do so.

I am also in the process of changing up some things as I find my next location for my business outside of Etsy. For now Etsy is the place to find me though online. I have been with Etsy since I started online in 2013 before they became a public company and took investors and changed a lot. I have seen a lot of changes happen over the years but it is still a place a lot of people use for handmade items. The company that I did have my website on has recently closed though so I am in the process now of deciding what to do moving forward. I will say more on that in the coming weeks. Im sorry they closed as they were a great company that advocated wholeheartedly for handmade sellers and makers, but I understand it is hard to compete as a marketplace online.

2026 is indeed turning out to be the year of change for me and my business in some ways whether I want it to or not. I am trying to keep an open mind though and a positive outlok. Making things that I enjoy and think other people will too and moving forward in business as well. I also still enjoy teaching in person locally people the craft I love.

On a personal note, I am going through my stash of yarn and letting go of yarns and things that don’t make me happy anymore or items that I know I will not work with in like the next six months. Going through projects that I started and didn’t finish and deciding do I still love this thing or do I want to frog it and keep the yarn or let the whole thing go.

The end result of all of this is to say this is the year of being mindful for me and bringing more joy into my life for my business and personally as well. Be good to yourself and think positive. Take care til next time.
